a6000The Sony A6000 was announced back in early February 2014 and if you were wondering when you’d be able to get your hands on the camera, you might be interested to learn that Sony has reportedly begin shipping out pre-orders for the camera over in markets like Asia and Europe.

What this means is that if you didn’t place your pre-order, we expect you should be able to head on over to a camera retail store to purchase them in-person in the near future, although we don’t have any specific dates at the moment. There is still no word on a release in North America yet, but based on Sony’s US website, the North American release has been pegged for the 15th of April 2014.

For those who might have missed our coverage from earlier, the Sony A6000 is one of Sony’s recently announced mirrorless cameras. The camera is expected to fill the gap between the Sony NEX-5T and the Sony A65 DSLR camera, so you should be able to get an idea of its capabilities.

The A6000 will pack a 24.3MP sensor and its ISO will go as high as 25,600, allowing photographers to snap photos in low-light conditions without the need for flash, although this could result in “noisy” photos. Sony is also boasting that the A6000 will feature a very fast auto-focus system that will lock onto the target in a very short amount of time.

We don’t have the camera ourselves so we can’t attest to Sony’s claims, but it’ll definitely be worth taking it out for a spin. The camera will be priced at $800 for the bundle with the kit lens, and $650 for the body-only model.
