android-4.4-kitkatSony has just announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat system update has been released for its Xperia Z Ultra, Z1, and Z1 Compact smartphones. Apart from that, do expect Android 4.4 KitKat to also arrive on the likes of the Xperia Z, ZL, Tablet Z, and ZR later this May. As for folks who happen to still tote the older Xperia T2 Ultra, E1, and M2, you too, would be able to enjoy Android 4.4 KitKat in due time.

The existing Android 4.4 KitKat updates will come with a slice of KitKat’s performance as well as user interface tweaks to keep company Sony’s very own hard work on the platform. Take for instance, the Status Bar and Quick Settings menus have been revamped in order for them to be clearer and more intuitive. Not only that, there is also a new launch animation as well as live wallpaper that can be found on the Sony PS4 console, which will go some way to make the home and lock screens more attractive to the eyes.

Apart from the above mentioned, Sony’s native Android apps including Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, TrackID TV, Sony Select, Smart Social Camera will also be on the receiving end of their very own updates, with the Media apps (Walkman, Album, and Movies as part of the deal) being integrated with Sony Entertainment Network and PlayMemories.
