dropbox pc and mac

Earlier this week Dropbox announced that former United States Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice has been appointed to its board. Her career in the government hasn’t been short on controversy, so one can understand why some people might not be too happy about her presence on the board of a cloud storage company, which users trust with their data. A petition surfaced online demanding that she be dropped from the board, but Dropbox CEO has publicly backed her appointment while also reiterating the company’s commitment to privacy.

In a blog post on the company’s official blog, CEO Drew Houston writes that Dropbox knows that it is important to keep users’ stuff safe and secure, which is why it has been “fighting for transparency and government surveillance reform.” Houston says the company should have been more clearer that none of this is going to change with Rice’s appointment to the board. “Our commitment to your rights and your privacy is at the heart of every decision we make, and this will continue.”

That said, Houston’s words don’t seem to have had a great effect. Reading the comments below this blog post shows how much users are irked by Rice’s appointment, with some even saying that they won’t use Dropbox until it drops Rice. What is your stand on this?
