htc-one-review-m8-labshot-04So we have heard the rumors that Samsung is preparing a Galaxy S5 Prime handset which will feature a 2K display. This would put the Galaxy S5 Prime in competition with handsets like the LG G3, Oppo Find 7, and the Vivo Xplay 3S, but it seems that Samsung might not be the only one interested in a “Prime” device.

According to a recent tweet by @evleaks, it has been suggested that HTC could be working on a HTC M8 Prime. Unfortunately there was no mention as to what the HTC M8 Prime could entail, but given that the Galaxy S5 Prime would suggest an upgrade processor, possibly that of the Snapdragon 805 and a 2K display, perhaps something similar could be planned for the HTC M8 Prime as well, assuming the rumors are true.

As it stands we know that HTC has a handset in the works called the HTC M8 Ace. We’ve seen leaked press renders and have heard rumors that the device will be a slightly dumbed down version of the HTC One M8. It is also rumored to sport a plastic unibody build as opposed the One M8’s aluminum unibody.

In any case the HTC M8 Prime could be something else entirely and the “Prime” name could just be a coincidence. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, but in the meantime what do you guys think of a HTC M8 Prime? What kind of device would you expect that to be?
