When it comes to the sheer number of handheld console versions and special editions, I would like to think that no one out there does it better than Nintendo themselves, who happen to have an extremely long tradition, where things really took off with the Game Boy and has not looked back since. This week, Nintendo has announced plans to release Disney Magical World this April 11, in addition to an exclusive themed 3DS XL to go along with the game.

This particular design will boast of gold and matte white Mickey-shaped bubbles, ensuring that the cool factor remains as part of the deal without turning this into some sort of cute handheld. It remains to be seen whether the Disney Magical World game will come as a bundle with the handheld console itself, and neither do we have details on pricing, but one thing is for sure – this special “Mickey Edition” Nintendo 3DS XL will be available only at Walmart.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that there will be online pre-orders made available for folks who do not happen to have the convenience of living near to one of these retail stores. One would suspect that the special edition version of the handheld console would not veer too far off from the base price of a vanilla model, if at all.
