twitter-nypdNot everyone is able to make good use of a social media platform like Twitter – there is an art to it, after all, as the New York Police Department (NYPD) found out to their chagrin. How so, you ask? The NYPD did ask folks who have a Twitter account to post images of themselves with police officers, and examples like the one above were the result of this “‘experiment”, which can be rather hilarious if you want to look at it from a different angle.

The NYPD went about this particular “experiment” by creating a hashtag known as #myNYPD, which was rather charming when you think about it. The NYPD’s Twitter Patrol began with this particular message: “Do you have a photo w/ a member of the NYPD? Tweet us & tag it #myNYPD. It may be featured on our Facebook.”

There were a fair share of photos that showed off police officers doing their duty, but in the course of that, treating their fellow man as something less. Sure, we do not know the circumstances that lead to some of the more seemingly “cruel” situations depicted, but it is not exactly the “roses and everything nice” situation that the NYPD would have hoped to create in the first place.
