churchill-downsPanasonic is behind what is deemed to be the world’s largest 4K ultra high-definition LED video board, where this particular piece of equipment is set to be unveiled this coming Saturday, April 26, just in time for the Spring Meet 2014. The entire video screen measures a whopping 170 feet in height, and intends to deliver a stellar viewing experience for everyone at the venue over at the legendary Churchill Downs 26-acre infield.

This huge display screen measures 171-feet wide by 90-feet tall sits 80 feet above the ground, which ought to be able to let it offer a wide viewing angle for a superior fan experience regardless of where anyone is sitting within. The active display area would be 15,224 square feet it has been specially positioned midway along the backstretch and outside the dirt course so that it would not end up as a distraction to the jockeys and horses.

Kevin Flannery, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack, shared, “During the past 10 years, we’ve invested more than $160 million at Churchill Downs to significantly upgrade our venue and greatly enhance the fan experience. Working with Panasonic to install the first outdoor 4K video board was a critical component of our investment strategy to make Churchill Downs the best Thoroughbred racing facility for all our events and turn it into one of the premiere ‘must see’ sports and entertainment destinations in the world.” [Press Release]
