galaxy-s4-active-review-16Word on the street has it that Samsung could be working on a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, which is essentially a variant of the Galaxy S5 handset that was unveiled at MWC 2014. Now according to a sighting on Samsung’s User Agent Profile, it seems that the device has been “confirmed”.

According to the earlier rumor, it was suggested that the Galaxy S5 Active could come with the model number SM-G870 and in the User Agent Profile, a certain SM-G870A was spotted, with the “A” apparently indicating that the handset will be bound for AT&T’s network.

Considering that its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was an exclusive to AT&T, we guess it does not really come as a surprise that the Galaxy S5 Active could be an AT&T exclusive as well. However we have to say that we’re curious as to what the Galaxy S5 Active could bring to the table.

Given that the Samsung Galaxy S5 already has water-resistant and dustproof features, it kind of defeats the point of an “Active” version, right? Unless Samsung is planning on introducing more features, perhaps a more rugged design, or maybe it might come bundled with activity apps and whatnot.

Either way we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for more information, so do check back with us at a later date to see if there will be any additional information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
