The Oculus Rift is a great device for playing games and can be used to re-experience a variety of different games in a virtual reality setting. We’ve seen it used with classic titles like The Legend of Zelda and now it seems that developers had managed to adapt the game for use with Sonic the Hedgehog.

If you grew up playing the Sonic franchise, you know the game is all about running fast, collecting coins, jumping and around while trying to reach your goal. As a side-scroller and as a 3D version of the game, it made sense, but when combined with the Oculus Rift, well let’s just say that if you’re not the type that likes roller coasters, we don’t think you’d enjoy this too much.

The Oculus Rift version of Sonic basically puts the players in Sonic’s red shoes and allows them to play the game from a first-person perspective. It’s a unique perspective although slightly nauseating, but if you think that your stomach can handle it, then we reckon you could be in for a treat. The footage above was put together by Chadtronic who also tried his hand at Mario 64 on the Oculus Rift which sounds like another nauseating experience, but hey, to each their own!

In the meantime if you’re wondering how the game might play on the Oculus Rift, check out the video above, although like we mentioned earlier, it might cause headaches for some and maybe even some slight motion sickness.
