Similar to what Jay-Z did with Samsung, it seems that Sony wants to do something similar as well, which is to release a music album in conjunction with the release of a handset. In this case Sony plans to use the upcoming Xperia Z2 and will be releasing a new Michael Jackson album titled “XSCAPE” together with it.

Yes, we are well aware that the King of Pop is no longer with us, so XSCAPE isn’t technically new material, but will instead feature unreleased material which we guess did not make it to the studio albums, which in turn will no doubt make it an album that fans and collectors will want to get their hands on.

The album will be seeing a release on the 13th of May and Sony Xperia Z1S and Xperia Z2 owners will be able to download the album for free on launch day itself. However for Xperia Z2 owners, you guys will have the added benefit of having the album catered to the handset’s audio.

According to Sony, they have optimized the sound for the album for the Xperia Z2. “The sound was optimised using the studio’s console and main monitors as a reference point for the audio tuning on the Xperia Z2 and the MDR-NC31EM headset.” The audio settings can be easily accessed in the phone by selecting the ClearAudio+ mode.

We’re not sure if this bundle will help to sell more handsets, but if you were planning on getting the Sony Xperia Z2 or the Xperia Z1S, we guess you will now have something to look forward to. In the meantime you can check out a sample in the video above.
