samsung-galaxy-s5-review-012

It has only been two week since the Samsung Galaxy S5 was released. The smartphone went on sale in over 100 countries on April 11th, it was carried by all major U.S. mobile carriers. While there haven’t been any reports of major issues in the initial batch, it appears that a small quantity of Verizon’s variant might be suffering from a hardware issue. Several users have complained about a Verizon Galaxy S5 “camera failed” issue, which isn’t resolved even after rebooting or resetting the entire device.

Many of the affected users have taken to XDA forums to raise their voices. They report that after having worked fine for a few days, the camera fails to start when the app is launched. Instead they’re greeted by a “Warning: Camera Failed” message. As previously mentioned, rebooting the device doesn’t help. Even performing a factory reset on the device doesn’t help.

It is highly likely that this may be a hardware issue. Verizon hasn’t commented on this issue as yet so customers are on their own right now. Those who are affected can try and get a replacement unit from Verizon itself or the retailer they bought the Galaxy S5 unit from. There have been no reports of a similar issue on other variants, so this may not be widespread.
