Liquid_Jade_black_01When it comes to smartphones, Acer is a brand you might not necessarily think of. Sure, the company has attempted smartphones in the past, although safe to say they failed to make much of an impact, at least compared to their competitors. Well it looks like Acer is not giving up anytime soon as they have announced the Liquid Jade smartphone.

The Liquid Jade smartphone was actually announced briefly back in April, but additional details have since been offered up by Acer ahead of Computex 2014 which is kicking off next week. The phone is expected to be available in Q3 2014, although Acer has not mentioned its price just yet, or which markets the handset will be gracing.

However in terms of specs, the Liquid Jade will come in two colors – black or white, and will pack a 5-inch IPS HD display. A bit disappointing since we were hoping for at least Full HD, but we guess with HD, Acer is able to keep its costs down. The phone will also be powered by a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz and will come with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of onboard storage.

There will be a 13MP rear-facing camera with an aperture of f/1.8 which should allow for some pretty fast photography, even in low-light situations. The front-facing will be of the 2MP variety. The Acer Liquid Jade will also pack a 2,100mAh battery and will come with the usual connectivity options, such as Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and so on. There will also be support for dual SIMs, and will come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled.
