Ever since Google released Android 4.4 KitKat late last year, most major carriers have been hard at work getting the update ready for all supported devices. It won’t surprise anyone that popular devices were higher up the list, since there’s more demand from users for a quick release. Most of last year’s high-end devices have now received KitKat. AT&T has shifted its focus towards others as well and today the AT&T Optimus G Pro Android 4.4 KitKat update has finally been released.

Starting today the carrier will push out the Android 4.4.2 update to be precise over-the-air. Users should see the update pop up on their device when it goes live in their region. Since the carrier rolls out the updates in stages it might take a while before that happens though so a little patience will certainly go a long way.

The AT&T Optimus G Pro Android 4.4 update brings restyled status and navigation bars, improved security and battery performance, enhanced processing speed, support for Google Cloud Printer as well as a new full screen mode. The OS also includes dozens of tweaks and bug fixes which make the overall system more stable and secure.

Optimus G Pro owners on LG can now try to manually pull the update by going to the Software Update menu in the settings application. If that doesn’t work then they can simply wait for the update to go live in their particular region.
