About a month ago, we reported on an Android accessory called the Dimple. The Dimple essentially added additional hardware buttons to your Android smartphone that allowed users to perform more functions, such as launch apps, without having to dive into the menus. Well it looks like the Dimple could soon have a competitor in the form of the Cliq case.
The Cliq case acts pretty much the same as the Dimple, with the main difference that instead of it being a sticker, the Cliq is a case, which admittedly looks a bit more streamlined and less out of place. Interestingly enough the creators claim that the case will never need charging, so go ahead and use it to your heart’s content.
The buttons on the case can perform a variety of actions. This includes launching the camera, sending pre-written text messages or calls to selected contacts, control your music, enable/disable features on your phone to save battery, enable/disable flashlight, or launch into the settings menu. The Cliq will also come with NFC and can be reprogrammed, allowing other apps such as Tasker, Automateit, and IFTTT to take advantage of it.
Now the Cliq comes in two forms – a case which is limited to a number of phones that it will fit with, or a sticker form which makes it sleeker and less bulky. As it stands the Cliq will support devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3; the Motorola Moto X; Google’s Nexus 5; and the LG G2. If you’d like to learn more about the Cliq or donate to its project, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
