Are you someone who likes using custom ROMs on an Android device? Well you’re in luck today if you have the brand new HTC One M8. The folks at Cyanogen today released the first official CyanogenMod 11 nightly build for the aforementioned smartphone. It offers a great alternative for users who don’t want to stick with HTC’s Android modifications.

However bear in mind that this is a nightly build, which means that there are bound to be quite a few bugs in this release. Even though its possible to use it as a daily driver, only opt for a nightly build if you’re absolutely sure you can handle the bugs that come along with it.

This particular CyanogenMod 11 ROM is a unified build which means that it is compatible with the Sprint, Verizon and international GSM model of the HTC One M8. Even the developer edition and Telus/Rogers versions in Canada are also compatible. Those who are not exactly sure which model they have can check Cyanogen’s very own model ID list to be absolutely sure.

The nightly build of the official CyanogenMod 11 for HTC One M8 comes in at 220MB and will require a custom recovery to be pre-installed. Before a custom recovery can be installed you will have to root the HTC One M8. Only tinker around at this level if you absolutely know what you’re doing.
