battlefield hardlineAccording to a leak yesterday, EA’s next Battlefield title was revealed. The game was titled “Hardline” and we guess EA decided to end the speculation by officially announcing the game, Battlefield Hardline, on their website.

In a post by Steve Papoutsis, the VP and GM of Visceral Games, “On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline.  The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.”

This confirms a rumor that we had heard earlier this year that the next Battlefield title could feature the police, and that the game was scheduled for a release later this year. Unfortunately apart from the confirmation of the game, not much else was revealed, although assuming yesterday’s leak was accurate, we got a look at weapons and gear that could be from the game.

The leak also suggested that we could be looking at new playable classes, like the Enforcer, Mechanic, Operator, and Professional, although what their roles are still remains to be seen. In any case Papoutsis confirmed that the game will be officially revealed with more information to be shared come 12PM PDT on the 9th of June, which is when E3 2014 will be kicking off, so do check back with us then for the details.
