half-life-2-coverOver the past few months and years, we have been hearing rumors that Valve could be working on Half-Life 3. After all, why wouldn’t they? The previous two Half-Life games have proven to be huge hits, and have managed to spawn mods that have become their own games, like Counter-Strike, for example. So far Valve has been denying the rumors, but according to Counter-Strike’s co-creator, Minh Le, Half-Life 3 is being worked on, along with Left 4 Dead 3.

Speaking to goRGNtv, Le said that it has become public knowledge that Half-Life 3 is in the works, or at the very least that is what most people suspect is the case. However he adds that while he can’t talk about it, he did mention seeing some concept art. “But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.”

It should be noted that back in 2012, concept art of Half-Life 3 was leaked, although those were images from back in 2008, suggesting that they might have since been abandoned, and that what Le might have seen could have been those images, although we’d doubt he’d be so secretive about that. As far as Left 4 Dead 3 is concerned, Le did come across a build of the game.

According to him, “I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like ‘wow, this looks great’. Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn’t many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game.”

While Half-Life 3 is still all rumors for now, Valve did mention a couple of years ago that they were working on Left 4 Dead 3. However they also mentioned that they could not provide any dates or timeframes as to when gamers can look forward to the game, so its status remains unknown for now. Either way make what you will of Le’s words, but until we see something more concrete and official, we suggest you not get your hopes up just yet.
