htc-m8-ace-render

There have been endless reports about HTC developing multiple variants of its flagship device, the HTC One M8. It has already unveiled the HTC One M8 mini 2 and may soon announce yet another variant. We’ve heard that the M8 Ace is in the pipeline and now the first purported press render of this smartphone has appeared online. From the looks of things it appears that the smartphone might have a slightly different design language than its siblings.

Rumor has it that the HTC M8 Ace will essentially be a “Galaxy S5 killer.” The company seeks to offer the exact same specifications as Galaxy S5 but give up metal in favor of plastic. This will allow HTC to keep costs down while giving itself a solid chance of better competing against the Korean juggernaut.

The press render that has been leaked online shows off an HTC device that is quite curvy, a stark contrast as opposed to the existing flagship. The design change might help the smartphone set itself apart in the M8 family. Even HTC has started tweeting about the possibility of a curved smartphone launching soon so for all we know this could be just that.

Other rumors suggest that the HTC M8 Ace is going to have a 5-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz. The render does show that the Ace might not have HTC One M8’s Duo Camera or even the dual-tone LED flash. Photography enthusiasts might not like this much but with this particular smartphone HTC’s aim seems to be to take Samsung’s flagship headon at a much more reasonable price.
