ps-vita-slim

Late last year Sony launched a slightly updated version of the PS Vita in Japan. It was then introduced in the UK in February 2014. If you have been wondering if this particular variant will make its way to the U.S., wonder no more. Sony today announced that the PS Vita Slim is now available for purchase in the U.S. It is being sold as part of the Borderlands 2 limited edition PlayStation Vita bundle.

The bundle features Borderlands 2, a first person role playing shooter game with six DLC packs and an 8GB memory card for $199.99. Keep in mind though that this is a limited edition bundle for the PS Vita Slim.

PS Vita Slim is approximately 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the original handheld console. It has rounded edges which make it ever easier to grip. The original’s OLED panel has been replaced with a 960×540 IPS LCD panel. It has the same Cortex A9-based quadcore processor with 512MB RAM and 128MB RAM though Sony has upped the internal memory to 1GB for game installs and saving additional content.

There’s no need to feel left out if you have the original Vita. Granted that a slimmer and lighter variant sounds more appealing but there should really be no compulsion to upgrade as both variants will offer exactly the same gameplay experience. Though if you have been meaning to pick one up but haven’t yet, the PS Vita Slim is definitely the one to go for.
