Microsoft showed off two titles when it unveiled the Xbox One late last year. The first was Forza Motorsport 5 which didn’t surprise anyone since its from the company’s in-house developer Turn 10. Quantum Break was the other titled, developed by Remedy, the folks behind Max Payne and Alan Wake series. The company finally confirmed today when Quantum Break release for Xbox One is going to take place. Its sometime next year.

It also revealed that Remedy Entertainment is going to showcase gameplay for the very first time in August at gamescom, Europe’s largest gaming show. Fans were given a sneak peak today of what they can expect later this summer. Remedy’s Creative Director Sam Lake provided story details of Quantum Break.

Its going to be a narrative driven third-person title which includes live action element. The game was initially described as one that “blurs the line between television and gameplay.”

The game follows Jack Joyce, the hero, who struggles to prevent the end of time. Jack’s arch enemy is a villainous corporation called Monarch Solutions. This forms an intertwining narrative where actions the players take impacts how the story goes across both the game and the live-action show.

Quantum Break will be released exclusively for the Xbox One in 2015. Remedy promises that it will deliver an entertainment experience like no other. We’ll have to wait for quite a few months before passing judgement on that.
