samsunglogoWill Samsung announce a Google Glass competitor of their own? After all we’ve seen how Samsung has dived head first into the wearables market through devices like the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit, not to mention previous patents have hinted at a headset of sorts, so we guess it wouldn’t be a complete stretch of the imagination to think that Samsung could be prepping a wearable headset of their own.

That being said, it seems that Samsung has recently filed for a trademark for the term “Gear Blink”, which some have speculated could be the name of Samsung’s upcoming wearable headset. Considering that Samsung has used the “Gear” name to distinguish its wearables from its smartphones and tablets, there is a good chance that the Gear Blink could be a wearable too.

However what exactly are we looking at here remains to be seen. We have seen different patents from Samsung in the past that suggests a variety of different designs that their wearable headset could be like. For example we’ve seen one that looks like a pair of glasses, while another is more of Bluetooth earpiece with a heads-up display unit for one eye.

In any case it might be a bit early to speculate, but if the rumors are to be believed, Samsung could be announcing the Gear Blink (or Gear Glass) later this September alongside the Galaxy Note 4, which is also during IFA where Samsung has previously announced new products, such as the Galaxy Gear back in 2013.
