Four months back a Whisper rival burst on the scene. It allowed users to share secrets among their friends while hiding behind a curtain of anonymity. Initially Secret was only available in the U.S. and was expanding to a handful of other countries after a couple of months. Even the app was only available for iOS at first. Today though the much awaited Secret app for Android has finally be released.

The good news doesn’t end here. Secret has gone global, it is available in the English language around the globe. Secret’s Android application brings a handful of new features as well as user interface changes, so its not like they simply copied the iOS and released it for Android. Its a completely different user experience on Google’s mobile platform.

The app has two tabs, Friends and Explore. The former will show posts from a user’s circle of friends and the latter from users all around the world The stream is more interactive and includes a way to see how many friends a user has as well as a way to ask questions and respond to posts from friends. This feature is exclusive to the Android app right now but it has been confirmed that it will be added to the iOS app as well in the near future.

Secret’s developers say that “there will be more surprises on the way.” They’ve already said that the Android app will be used as a platform to test new features, since it makes more sense not to upset the already established user base on iOS. Secret app for Android is available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
