iphone-5s-review-014Back in 2013, T-Mobile officially merged with MetroPCS and the good news is that thanks to the merger and the fact that T-Mobile is now officially offering the iPhone on their network, it looks like the post-paid carrier is interested in bringing some iPhone love to their pre-paid counterpart.

This is according to T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Sievert, who in a statement to Re/code was quoted as saying, “We are very interested in that. We think the Metro PCS customer would be as well.” As it stands it seems this is more of a statement of interest rather than a confirmation, but hopefully MetroPCS customers won’t have to wait too long for it to happen.

However given that the iPhone is a high-end smartphone, there is a challenge in trying to market it in such a way that would make the phone an attractive purchase, even to pre-paid customers who might have tighter budgets than that of their post-paid friends. This isn’t to say that it is impossible, especially since Sprint has managed to do so themselves by bringing the iPhone onto Virgin Mobile.

It remains to be seen when exactly will T-Mobile manage to bring the iPhone onto MetroPCS’ network, but with the iPhone’s high desirability, perhaps by offering the device on its pre-paid network, T-Mobile will be able to attract more customers to come on board, but what do you guys think of this move?
