jl9000Nowadays we’re starting to see retailers starting to offer up their own brand of electronics. Brands like Tesco have launched their own tablets and have recently announced plans for their own brand of smartphones as well, which is why we can’t say we’re too surprised to learn that UK departmental store, John Lewis, has recently announced their own brand of Smart TVs.

The company has recently announced their JL9000 series of webOS Smart TVs, which in reality are made by LG but have John Lewis’ branding on it. As far as the technical aspects of the TV are concerned, they will feature Full HD 1080p LED IPS displays, LG’s Triple XD Engine picture processing, an integrated soundbar at the base of the TV, and will come with a Magic Remote.

The JL9000 series of Smart TVs will also come in three different sizes – 49-inch, 55-inch, and 60-inch, and will be priced starting at £1,399. If you were hoping to get your hands on a larger screen size, then be prepared to fork out additional money. The TV will also come with the John Lewis’ free five year guarantee at no extra cost.

According to John Kempner, vision buyer at John Lewis, “We wanted to create our own range of premium large screen TVs that would have a distinctive look and also offer the benefits of the very latest in on-demand Smart TV technology, while being easy to use. LG has helped us achieve this with a sleek and clever design that also includes a built-in soundbar to deliver an immersive sound and visual experience.”

The TVs are currently available from John Lewis’ stores or via their website, so for our readers in the UK that would like to get their hands on them, you can head on over to their website for the details.
