amazon-kindle-fire-hdx-8.9-review-5We know many of you guys are probably curious and excited about Amazon’s event that they will be holding on the 18th of June. Based on the teaser video and rumors, many have speculated that it could be the launch of Amazon’s very own smartphone, a device that has been rumored about for quite a while now.

Now assuming the phone does launch, where and when can customers expect to get their hands on it? Well according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, they claim that the Amazon smartphone is expected to be an exclusive to AT&T. Unfortunately it was not clear if the exclusivity would be a timed exclusive or if it will be a permanent exclusive, much like Apple’s iPhone at the start.

It is also unclear if Amazon would sell the unlocked and carrier-free version on its website, which would ultimately allow users to purchase it and use it on other carriers at their own discretion, but we wouldn’t rule it out since it doesn’t seem like a stretch of the imagination. The specs of Amazon’s rumored smartphone remain something of a mystery for now.

One of the alleged features is 3D tracking which will allow users to interact with the device without actually having to touch it. This feature has been rumored about and teased in a video from Amazon. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we guess we’ll only have to wait a couple of days to see if it pans out!
