Its hard to imagine a world without GoPro. The nifty, relatively inexpensive and high quality GoPro camera is a favorite among travelers, thrill seekers and occasional vloggers. We have seen some incredible and highly entertaining footage from GoPro users, YouTube is filled without countless clips recorded through the camera. The company has now struck up a partnership with the BMW Group which will bring GoPro integration to some BMW and Mini cars.

The integration will allow drivers to control their GoPro cameras through the car’s dash. Next month those BMW and Mini owners who have a 2012 or later model will be able to download a new app from BMW Apps or Mini Connected.

However, there is a slight caveat since not every vehicle will be compatible. First and foremost users need a model that comes with a stock infotainment system, moreover a Wi-Fi equipped GoPro camera will be required for this to work. The app itself must be installed on an iPhone that’s connected to the car.

Once everything has been set up, the app will also configuration and control of the camera though the car’s iDrive system as well as display a “nearly live image” on the infotainment system. Menus will be simplified on screen, allowing users to choose between six camera modes, aim as well as start and stop recording. During filming the display will show battery life, signal strength and time left.
