Another day, another iPhone 6 rumor. We can expect this parade to continue until Apple takes the stage later this fall to formally unveil its next generation smartphone. Until then we have to make do with rumors if we crave information about the iPhone 6. Word on the street is that due to a simple component change the upcoming iPhone will be thinner and lighter than all previous iPhones, something which the Apple fan community will certainly love.

China Time hears that instead of using two brightness enhancement films for the display like it does on the iPhone 5s, Apple would instead use a single brightness enhancement film for the iPhone 6’s display. Apparently the company has found a way to do this without compromising on the display quality.

The report claims that this change will ensure that the iPhone 6 is thinner and lighter than all of its predecessors, however it is said that this will make manufacturing difficult. To counter this Apple is reportedly bringing more component suppliers onboard to ensure that there are no issues during the manufacturing stage. Miebea previously supplied the brightness enhancing films to Apple and now it is believed that OMRON and Radiant have hopped onboard for the iPhone 6.

Apple is expected to unveil two iPhone 6 models this year, presumably in September, if it keeps up with its traditional release cycles. One is believed to have a 4.7-inch display and the other a substantially bigger 5.5-inch display. Major design changes are also expected, though all of the iPhone 6 mockups we have seen up till now might not present a clear picture of the final product.
