Ever wanted to create a Star Wars universe that you could truly call your own? If yes, then Disney’s new app is right up your alley. Today it launched the Star Wars Scene Maker application which lets fans of this epic franchise be the masters of their own Star Wars video universe. Given its purpose, the app is only available for the iPad, since you won’t be able to do any of this on the relatively small screen of an iPhone.

The Star Wars Scene Maker app lets you create your own scenes and fill them with your favorite characters from the franchise. You will also be able to control the characters’ dialogues and actions. The app has the ability to record scenes created by the user, and also allows them to share those scenes over several different channels.

You can choose between 3D environments and fill them in with 3D models of weapons, ships and characters. Dialogues lifted straight from the Star Wars films can be used, or you can record your voice and apply filters that make you sound like Darth Vader, a Rebel Pilot or Storm Trooper. Three cameras let you record the action from multiple angles.

You also get the ability to write your own “Title Crawl,” Star Wars style, and finish things off with a musical score from the franchise. The Star Wars Scene Maker app is available as a free download for the iPad from the App Store.
