We first heard earlier this month that a new Forza Horizon title is, for lack of a better word, on the horizon. During Microsoft’s E3 2014 press conference today it was officially confirmed that Forza Horizon 2 release is slated for this fall. The title will be exclusive to Xbox One and the Xbox 360, however its possible that it may not be released on both consoles at the same time.

Forza Horizon 2 is being developed by Playground Games, its the same studio that was behind the original Forza Horizon title which was released a few years back. Not all of the details are available at this point in time but its said to be an open-world title.

Ralph Fulton of Playground Games took the stage to announce that the Forza Horizon 2 release date is September 30th, 2014. That’s for the Xbox One version. No confirmation as yet if the Xbox 360 version, being developed at Sumo Digital, will be released on the same day as well.

Before this announcement was made, Dan Greenawalt from Turn 10 Studios revealed that Forza Motorsport 5 receives the infamous Nordschleife Nurburgring track today. Gamers will appreciate that its a free download. Its the third track delivered for free to the Forza community, after Road America in February and Long Beach in April.
