Samsung-Galaxy-S5-DxOMark-ScoreWe’re sure that with all the smartphones out there today, with each company boasting that their camera technology is the best, that customers are wondering which smartphone really takes the best photos? However like we said before, this really boils down to personal preference because some cameras take photos with more saturation, which is what some users like, while others present a more natural tone, which might seem flat to some, but could be preferred by others.

Well if you’re looking for a technical way to end the debate, the folks over at DxOMark have released their report in which they found that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the smartphone which takes the best photos at the moment. As you can see in the graph above, the Galaxy S5 did better than the competition, like the Xperia Z1 and the iPhone 5.

That being said in terms of the score the DxOMark gave the Galaxy S5, they found that it managed to score 80/100 in terms of photography. The phone appeared to excel in exposing photos properly, good white balance, along with good color rendering especially under well-lit conditions. The phone also scored 79/100 for its video feature where it was praised for its fast autofocus and good texture rendering, although they did criticize it for its lack of OIS.

At the same time despite lacking those features, the phone managed to score slightly higher than the Xperia Z2 which got 73/100 for its video capabilities. Like we said earlier, this is a slightly more clinical approach to testing camera quality, but at the end of the day it is the phone’s hardware, software, and other features that could help you make your decision, but if you wanted the best, at least on paper, then the Galaxy S5 could be worth your consideration.
