ios-8-beta-1-jailbreak

One question has been on the jailbreak community’s mind for a few months now. Will it be possible to jailbreak iOS 8? Over the last couple of years Apple has made it increasingly hard for hackers to develop jailbreaks and the community was certain that it would clamp down even more with its latest iteration. Though soon after the first beta of iOS 8 was seeded there were some positive signs. Now a full blown iOS 8 beta 1 jailbreak has been achieved.

The news comes from popular iOS hacker Stefan Esser, who is better known by his Twitter handle, @i0n1c. It was he who showed a promising sign for an iOS 8 beta jailbreak. Esser said that he would be able to crack it after sometime and he certainly has come through on that claim.

In a picture posted on Twitter, @i0n1c shows off the ability to SSH into an iPod touch running iOS 8 beta 1 through Mac. Its not possible to SSH into an iOS device until and unless its jailbroken, so this is proof enough.

@i0n1c is also sitting on an iOS 7.1.1 untethered jailbreak but hasn’t confirmed as yet if he has any plans of releasing it. Jailbreaks for beta firmwares are rarely released since its basically inviting Apple to patch the exploit in the subsequent beta release.

Hopefully an iOS 8 jailbreak will be ready in time when the firmware is released to the public this fall.
