LG-G3-Black-01
It has nearly been a week since LG unveiled its 2014 flagship. There was a lot of anticipation about this smartphone and we had already seen countless rumors prior to the actual announcement. The company decided to first release this smartphone on its home turf in South Korea, where its biggest rival is none other than Samsung. A new report originating from Korea claims that the LG G3 sales have eclipsed Galaxy S5 thus beating Samsung on home ground.

Samsung released the Galaxy S5 back in April so it would be unfair to compare its sales numbers with the LG G3, which is obviously in hot demand back in South Korea immediately after release. Galaxy S5’s figures would certainly have been higher right after its release.

But the report doesn’t do that. Its actually comparing LG G3 sales figures with the Galaxy S5 sales immediately following availability. Apparently in the first few days after release Galaxy S5 was selling 7,000-8,000 units per day back home. LG G3 is reportedly selling a staggering 25,000-30,000 units per day in South Korea.

If the report is indeed citing correct figures then this is certainly a big achievement for LG, being able to move so many units while seeming spending significantly less than Samsung on marketing. Perhaps the QHD display on LG G3 is really bringing in customers, or maybe the hype created by the unstoppable leaks worked in LG’s favor.

It would be interesting to see how both smartphones perform in additional markets. Galaxy S5 has been available in more than 100 countries since April. LG has plans to go global with its latest flagship as well but it may take a couple of months before it catches up to the Galaxy S5 globally.
