A few weeks back Microsoft formally unveiled its new tablet called the Surface Pro 3. It claims that this tablet will replace your laptop. There’s no denying the fact that it has powerful specifications and when hooked up with a keyboard can prove to be a good productivity-focused device. As the launch of its new tablet nears Microsoft is now enticing MacBook Air owners to give up their notebooks for the Surface Pro 3.

Apple itself recently refreshed the MacBook Air lineup. Unfortunately it was nothing major, a slight bump in the processors as well as a nominal price cut. Most customers were expecting a Retina display, but the 2014 MacBook Air lineup is truly an incremental update.

Microsoft is pouncing on that opportunity to push its new tablet. For a limited time only, or until supplies last, MacBook Air owners can walk into a Microsoft Store and trade-in their notebook for a Surface Pro 3. The maximum they’ll receive for an Air is $650. The promotion isn’t valid online, those who want to trade-in their Air will have to go to a MS Store in either the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

Once the trade-in value is accepted it will be final. Whatever amount is received for the MacBook Air will then have to be put towards the purchase of a Surface Pro 3. Microsoft’s website doesn’t list which MacBook Air models are eligible for this promotion.

If you’ve been fancying a switch to Windows and want to grab a Surface Pro 3 tablet this might be the best deal out there for you.
