Back May, 343 Industries officially announced and confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians will be arriving in 2015. During E3, it was also revealed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be arriving later this year. If there’s one thing that both games share in common, save for the fact that they’re based on the Halo franchise, is that they’re both exclusive to the Xbox One for now.
Now given that there are some Halo games that have made their way onto the PC, we’re sure gamers are wondering if the new Halo titles will be making their way onto the PC at some point in the future. Well maybe it will, maybe it won’t, but for now it looks like 343 Industries has confirmed that Halo 5 and The Master Chief Collection will remain as Xbox One exclusives for the time being.
Speaking to the folks at Eurogamer, 343 Industries’ Bonnie Ross was quoted as saying, “Right now we are focused on Xbox One.” Ross acknowledged that there have been Halo games released for the PC before, but for now, their efforts are focused purely on the Xbox One. “We’re listening to the PC fans, but right now this is all focused on Xbox One.”
The reason why The Master Chief Collection is not making its way onto the Xbox 360 has also been explained. It’s a little ironic since the collection features games that debuted on the Xbox 360, but apparently this is due to the HD remake that rendered the Xbox 360 incapable of running the games smoothly. According to the 343’s community manager, Andy Dudynsky, “We do not have any plans to bring the game to Xbox 360 as the game size, enhanced features and technical specifications simply can’t support it.”
