nintendo-wii-u-review-11Japanese gaming company Nintendo has just rolled out a brand new system update for their current generation console, the Nintendo Wii U, which would bump up the console’s software version to 5.0.0, where it will see the inclusion of the long awaited quick start menu option that has been specially designed in order for players to dive right into their games faster than ever before. This new quick start option would then enable Wii U owners to access recently played or installed software should they turn on the console via the GamePad’s home or power button.

To power on the console, one can make use of the Wii Remote Plus or Wii U Pro Controller, too. Apart from that, this latest system update will also see the introduction of alert messages, namely “special notifications from Nintendo”, which will be shown on the GamePad itself whenever the Wii U is powered down. Each time there is a new GamePad alert that is delivered, Wii U owners would be on the receiving end of a ringtone as part of the notification process.

In addition, the Wii U will also gain the ability to install future system updates automatically after download whenever the Wii U remains in standby mode, as well as updates that have been introduced to the user settings. This is definitely not the first update for the Wii U, and it sure as heck won’t be the last, either. [Press Release]
