The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is a device that we have heard rumored about in the past. The handset is supposedly a more premium version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and will sport a QHD display amongst other things. It would be an interesting move by Samsung as we’re sure many Galaxy S5 owners can’t be pleased about this.
In any case if you’re wondering if the device truly exists, here is more evidence that it does. The handset has recently been certified in South Korea by the country’s RRA (Radio Research Agency). This is essentially South Korea’s version of the FCC, meaning that devices have to be signed off on before they can be sold in the country.
So far three devices have been spotted: the SM-G906S, SM-G906K, and the SM-G906L. These devices are expected to be the same internally, more or less, but the main difference is that they will be headed to South Korea’s different carriers: SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+ respectively. Unfortunately apart from the certification, not much else was revealed about the handset.
So far what we know about the device, which is based on rumors, is that it will pack a QHD display that would put it in competition with devices like the LG G3. It is also rumored to feature a metal build that would quiet the critics who have been, well, critical about Samsung’s choice to use plastics in their phones. Either way these are just rumors for now so take it with a grain of salt, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
