There is nothing quite like having a bunch of geeks or fanboys arguing with one another over which particular character is better or more powerful. In terms of speed, who is faster between the Flash of DC Comics and Quicksilver, the mutant from the Marvel Universe? How about video game characters? How fast can the world’s fastest hedgehog, Sonic, go? Research scientists at The Escapist’s Game Theory video series decided to scrutinize Sonic’s running abilities, where the final figure is extremely underwhelming at a mere 179 miles per hour.

That would mean Sonic’s equivalent in the motoring world would be that of a Porsche 911 Carrera, and if he zips around at top speed all the time, Sonic would be able to make it to Chicago from New York in a matter of four hours. Sega claims that Sonic is able to break the sound barrier, but it does not seem as though that is the case now.

This would mean that Sonic is unable to create cyclones at that kind of speed in which he moves about in, which is a real pity. I suppose the likes of Flash and Quicksilver have nothing to worry about since Sonic can’t even come close to touching them in terms of speed.
