Have you been waiting for The Last Guardian? Your’re certainly not alone. The title was first revealed at the E3 conference back in 2009. Projected release date at that time was 2011. That didn’t happen but in 2012 it was reiterated that the game was still in active development. While there’s a possibility that Sony might not show it off at E3 2014, the company did refute a recent report which claimed that The Last Guardian had been hung out to dry.

The report came from IGN Russia which claimed to have heard from an internal source that The Last Guardian has finally been cancelled. Apparently this information was disclosed during an “internal meeting” at Sony last week. The report comes almost a year after Sony’s head of software product development, Scott Rohde, said last March that the game was “absolutely in the mix at Sony Worldwide Studios.”

Upon spotting the link to this report on Twitter, Rohde replied that “The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled,” adding that he and Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, “laughed” at this rumor.

So far there’s no explanation from Sony and even IGN says that its “committed to getting the full story.” Perhaps someone might ask Sony at E3 2014 about the status of The Last Guardian, hopefully it will have a satisfactory answers, because people have already spent a considerable amount of time waiting for this game.
