The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was announced not too long ago. The device, for those who might have missed our coverage, is essentially a larger version of Microsoft’s Surface series of tablets. This is actually a good thing because according to reviews, some have found it possible to use it as a laptop replacement, given its 12-inch display, which undoubtedly makes for better use over the other Surface tablets’ smaller display.

That being said, it looks like an elite private school, Cincinnati Country Day School, will be the first educational institution to start using the Surface Pro 3 tablets. Apparently this school is a pioneer of sorts, with Microsoft claiming that they were the first in the US to go 1:1 for their students from the 5th up to the 12th grade way back in 1996, so we guess it looks like this school could be claiming yet another first.

According to Rob Baker, the school’s IT director, “Every student learns differently, and every teacher teaches differently, so we need a device that will support them in whatever they want to do throughout their 4 years. The Surface Pro 3 is so lightweight yet solid, that I’m not worried about students carrying it around with them. And having the full power of Windows 8.1 with the keyboard and 12 inch screen make it a great primary computing device for teachers.”

Microsoft has also released a video which shows off how some of the students and the teachers use the Surface Pro 3 in their classes. So if you have a few minutes to spare and would like to see how the Surface Pro 3 could be used in the classroom, check out the video above for the details.
