Toshiba-Encore-7[Computex 2014] Over at Computex 2014 this year in Taiwan, Nick Parker, who is also Microsoft’s corporate vice president, showed off to the floor the most recent range of Windows-powered hardware devices that will be made available to the masses at a lower price point than before in order to penetrate newer markets. In fact, it was also in Taiwan when the first reveal of the upcoming 7” Encore tablet from Toshiba happened, making this one of the maiden attempts at a 7” Windows-powered device that will hopefully be able to crack the market that is currently dominated by the likes of Android tablets and iPads from Apple.

The Toshiba Encore 7 happens to be co-developed by the likes of Microsoft and Toshiba, not to mention having enlisted the close collaboration of Intel, Goodix and AMI. We have seen an affordable $100 Windows-powered tablet earlier this morning, and hopefully Toshiba’s offering will not cost too much either if they are serious about making some headway into the 7” tablet market.

Expect the Toshiba Encore 7 tablet to arrive in the months ahead at a price that is set to please, or at least this is what Microsoft have mentioned, touting that it will be extremely competitive in terms of the retail value.
