We’ve seen our fair share of games that are meant to introduce fitness into a gamer’s life, but if you’re looking for something that will take advantage of the Kinect, Ubisoft has recently announced a new fitness game called Shape Up that will take advantage of the Kinect accessory and will be an exclusive to the Xbox One console.

In a way it is a little ironic given that Microsoft recently announced that they would start selling the Xbox One console sans the Kinect accessory, but we guess if you have the Kinect and you’re looking to make use of it, then Shape Up is a game worth your consideration. Shape Up will use the Kinect by projecting the user into the game itself, as opposed to using the cameras to just monitor you, so in a way it feels less creepy and a little more immersive.

According to the creative director of the game, Charles Huteau, “Workouts can be mundane so it was a real challenge to adapt all of these crazy activities into exercises that are truly effective. Shape Up is set to revolutionize fitness games by proving that the more fun you have while working out, the longer you’ll stick with it to achieve better results.”

It’s an interesting concept and we have to wonder if this is something that will catch on. After all at the end of the day, it’s really up to the gamer to choose if they want to exercise, right? Shape Up is scheduled for a release in November 2014 but in the meantime, you can check out some examples of the game in the video above. Looks kind of fun, huh?
