collectio 4Have you ever wondered what it’s like to own the world’s largest video game collection, as certified by the Guinness Book of Records? Well, here’s your opportunity to do so. Michael Thomasson has been certified by Guinness to own the world’s largest video game collection, which at that time of certification consisted on 10,607 video games, but that number has since risen to over 11,000.

According to Thomasson, he claims that more than a quarter of the games are still factory shrink-wrapped, so for those who are really particular about their purchases being mint, you can rest assured that a quarter of them are. As for the rest, they are opened, but they do come with their original box and manual. Thomasson claims that his collection took 25 years to build, but why sell it now?

collect 2Well apparently it is to support his family, which we guess we completely understand. “I simply have an immediate family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this action is how I will help meet them.”

collection 3His entire collection is up for bidding at the moment and will include the certificate that was given to him by Guinness, so not only would you be buying an entire library of video games, but you will also be gaining a title in the process. Right now the bid is still at $21,000, although we’re not sure what the reserve price is, but accordinging to Thomasson, it will be realistic and below its appraised value.
