youtube-100hoursBack in the day, video game consoles were just that – gaming consoles that we played our games on, nothing more, nothing less. They were also more affordable than gaming PCs, at least back in the day, which is why gamers would opt to play on a console rather than a PC if they wanted to get some quality gaming time down.

However with PCs becoming cheaper and more powerful, consoles have started to include more features that would attract gamers onto it, such as social features that allows them to chat and connect with friends and other gamers, watch videos, movies, and so on. The good news is that if you were wondering when YouTube would be making its way onto the PlayStation 4, you’re in luck as Sony has announced that the app would be arriving this fall.

The app will be one of the official social options afforded to gamers via the Share button. Through that button, gamers will be able to upload the in-game footage directly to YouTube, which is definitely a more straightforward and accessible way. Gamers will also be able to access all YouTube channels and watch livestreams, so if you’re tired of gaming and want to take a break, you can just launch the YouTube app to enjoy some videos.

No specific launch dates were mentioned, but if you’re looking forward to the app, fall is probably the timeframe you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for. Sony has also promised that additional details will be shared along the way, so check back with us at a later date for the details.
