xperia-t2-ultra

Great news today if you happen to have a Sony Xperia T2 Ultra or T2 Ultra Dual. The company formally announced today that the Android 4.4 KitKat update is being rolled out for both of these devices. Not only does the update bring everything we have come to expect from KitKat, but it also brings some exclusive customizations that Sony has slapped on top of the core OS.

Chief among those is the tweaked status bar and quick settings which Sony says are now more customizable and intuitive. These are buzzwords alright so end users will have to pass judgement whether it is indeed the case.

Those who have a PlayStation 4 will find the user interface to be quite similar, Sony has also thrown in new launch animation and live wallpapers for the lock and home screens. Sony’s entire native app portfolio also gets updated so nearly a dozen apps now offer a much more improved user experience.

The update add Sony’s custom interface experience called “Xperia Themes” which brings downloadable UI packs from Sony Select, users can choose from up to 280 assets from a variety of styles.

As always expect this update to roll out in stages. Even though Sony has announced the release it may take a while for the update to go live across all regions. The company says that the next devices in line for the KitKat treatment at the Xperia E1, Xperia M2 and the Xperia M2 Dual.
