samsung-apple211Apple and Samsung have been at each other’s throats for the longest time ever, with both sides winning victories, losing some cases, and in general are seeking injunctions for each other’s products. However it seems that despite Apple’s recent huge win over Samsung, the Cupertino company has decided to give up on chasing an injunction against the 23 Samsung products that they alleged have infringed upon their patents.

According to Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents, this proves that the dispute between both companies are starting to lose steam, and that both parties are showing signs of litigation fatigue. However as he notes, this does nothing to change Samsung’s appeal of the original ruling where Apple was awarded $1 billion in damages.

The original ruling had been challenged earlier and was found that it was due to a miscalculation that led to that amount. The second trial was meant to reassess the damages, although Apple had also won that trial as well. Based on the filing of Apple’s motion, it seems that as far as dismissal for the injunction is concerned, Samsung will not be filing a response of their own.

That being said, the 23 devices Apple had been pursuing are pretty old and most of them aren’t even for sale anymore. However we suppose the injunction was more about making a statement that actually hurting Samsung’s sales, but hopefully this is a sign that the legal battle between both companies is coming to a close.
