Google is a company known for products like search, email, cloud storage, and mobile devices, so we guess it’s fair to say that when you think about video games, chances are Google doesn’t really come to mind. That being said, Google has dabbled in video games in the past, like the mobile game Ingress which was released on Android devices a couple of years ago as a beta.
Well the good news for iOS gamers who have been quietly sidelined for the past few years is that it looks like Ingress will be making its way onto the iOS platform. In fact the game is currently available via the iTunes App Store and can be downloaded for free, so if you’re wondering just what all the fuss is about, head on over to check it out for yourself.
If this is the first time you’re hearing about Ingress, it’s basically a game designed for mobile devices in mind. Unlike other video games where it can be played anywhere, the goal of Ingress is to force players to visit a variety of different locations in real life, making it an augmented reality game thanks to the app itself.
Players will be sent to different locations to complete missions, such as public art galleries, libraries, and so on. Unfortunately for iOS users is that the iOS version of the game isn’t too different from the Android version. So if you switched from Android to iOS, you won’t be seeing too many changes, but if you’re playing this for the first time, you are in for a treat.
