One man’s meat is another man’s poison, and so too, can a person’s trash be another person’s treasure. Apparently, an arcade fan’s girlfriend’s grandmother decided to purchase an old building in Chiba, which lies just outside Tokyo, and upon arrival at that building, they were in for a pleasant surprise. Apparently, the first two floors of that building itself functioned as a game center (aka video game arcade) way back in the 1980s. It looked as though the person who ran the game center left the building as it is – with all of the arcade cabinets within. Needless to say, blowing the dust off them revealed a total of 55 arcade cabinets, sporting a range of classic and obviously highly desirable games.
Among the games found include Columns, Donkey Kong, Galaxian, Magical Tetris Challenge, Metal Slug X, Pengo, Raiden 2, Super Puzzle Fighters 2 X, Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition, Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Zero 2), and Street Fighter EX 2, among others. Needless to say, not all of the arcade cabinets happen to be in working condition, as monitor damage is the most common fault among the lot.
On the Arcade Otaku forums, user keisuke999 claims that he intends to ship out the slew of valuable game boards discovered, and perhaps even the cabinets themselves if he comes across a ready and willing buyer. Do check out the full gallery here and drool.
