htc-one-review-m8-labshot-04The HTC One M8 was launched earlier this year to much fanfare. After all the handset featured pretty impressive hardware specs and a pretty nice design as well. Now according to a recent report, it seems that the handset could have recently helped the Taiwanese company see some profit, although a recent report from financial firm, Canaccord Genuity (via CNET) seems to suggest otherwise.

According to the report, it seems that while the HTC One M8 might have helped boost the company’s profits, sales of the handset are reportedly experiencing “fading sales” in the face of tough competition, although the firm did not mention from which companies. However if we had to venture a guess, the popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LG G3 could make them likely candidates.

Analyst Michael Walkley expects things to heat up even further for HTC later in the year, with the arrival of newer handsets from Samsung, like the Galaxy Note 4, and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 which without fail does extremely well with every release (save for the iPhone 5c). Unsurprisingly HTC did not comment on the firm’s “fading sales” analysis but what do you guys think?

Will HTC be able to rebound again later this year with a potentially new flagship? We had heard rumors about the HTC One M8 Prime, although it was later reported that plans for the more powerful handset had been shelved.
