hoaxEarlier in the day, we brought you word that the OnePlus tablet proved to be a hoax, as the company behind the OnePlus One smartphone stepped forward to bring all rumors and speculation of such a device coming out to an end. Well, rumors have that nature – they are either correct or incorrect, and time is the great teacher that will be able to separate one from the other.

As for the other leak from @evleaks, it was the HTC Volantis that was touted to be the upcoming Nexus device from Google, citing a high-end tablet that supposedly runs on a 64-bit NVIDIA K1 processor, sporting an 8.9” display at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, alongside a possible Flounder codename accompanying it. It seems that it was a 14-year old boy who posed as a Google employee that lent the hoax some credibility.

Hey, nobody can be correct all the time unless you’re an omniscient and omnipotent deity. Since we’re all but ordinary humans, credit goes to @evleaks for delivering pretty accurate leaks in the past, as well as admitting to a mistake when it happens. Still, we do wonder whether OnePlus will eventually venture into the tablet market, and will the Volantis arrive in due time as well? Image courtesy of Enoch Lau (Creative Commons)
