This fall Apple will unveil a couple of new devices. Apart from the iPhone 6 it is also expected to announce the next generation iPad models. The successor to the iPad Air is widely known as the iPad Air 2 at this point in time. We have seen leaked pictures of this tablet a few times already and yet another cache of iPad Air 2 pictures has been leaked online. The dummy unit may be the real deal or it may only be an early prototype, one can’t say for sure with leaks from unofficial sources.
These iPad Air 2 leaked pictures come courtesy of Japanese publication ASCII Plus. The unit we see here isn’t all that different from all other leaked units that we have seen up till now.
One change that immediately stands out at first glance is the ring around the home button. This shows that much like the iPhone 5s the next generation iPad is also going to have a fingerprint sensor under its home button.
The next iPad also appears to be marginally thinner than the iPad Air though there aren’t any many design changes. It does appear to have diamond cut edges that’s particularly attractive to the eyes.
The orientation/mute switch isn’t present on this unit. Its possible that Apple may remove it for good since the function can be accessed from within the notification center.
Apple’s next generation iPad will also come with internal hardware upgrades though its not entirely known at this point in time what new hardware is going to be fitted inside the tablet.
